Airs de Tavernes et Chansons d’Amour
In this first program, travel with us across western Europe.
We start close to our home, in Wallonia. Dances from the XXX court, Cramignons songs from the Liege region, which were used to pass along news from village to village… But also Maclottes we’ve known and played since we were kids.
We’ll then take you to 18th century Parisian inns, where periodicals full of drinking and dancing songs were published for years. We’ll sing you the best ones we’ve found, adding some elegant french dances along the way.
Finally, we will finish in Ireland. Gigs, reels, love songs, with endings both happy and tragic: you name it! We’ve got them all ready for you.
Most of our music comes from 18th, 19th and 20th century collections, in which musicians and editors collected folkloric music. We harmonise, arrange, ornament and improvise at our leisure throughout the program.
And stay tuned: new programs are in the making!
