Four Beers and a Glass of Wine brings you traditional early music on period instruments.
As an ensemble, we want to push the boundaries of early music, all while having fun on stage and bringing you repertoires unknown to many. We do this by digging around in collections and manuscripts full of folkloric music, choosing songs, dances, and tunes. We harmonise, ornament and arrange to make them our own.
The Royal conservatory of Brussels is the place we first met. Now we are proud to be sharing our debut program Airs de tavernes et chansons d’amour on national and international stages. Most recently, we were invited by the Abbaye aux Dames (Festival de Saintes) to give a number of concerts, both within the widely acclaimed festival, as well as during the Préludes. You can read all about it here. We also travelled to Switzerland to play for the Prangins Baroque festival. Beyond that, we’ve played many times in Belgium, both within festivals (Courant d’airs & Iris Festival) and at concerts.
You can find where to hear us next here, and contact us here for any questions or concert proposals!
And to finish off, the mysterious question: who are the beers, and who is the wine? Come to one of our concerts to find out! In the meantime, here is a little bit about each of us:
